A Samsung washer showing 4C or 4E has not received water as expected; this is different from the 5C or 5E drain error. Samsung lists low flow, a closed tap, a kinked inlet hose, clogged mesh filters and, less often, a blocked detergent drawer as checks the user can perform. Keep the exact code visible and confirm the model before moving the appliance because hose arrangements vary. Work from the household supply toward the machine, restoring each connection before testing, and do not replace an inlet valve merely because the code appeared.
Safety first
- Disconnect mains power and close the water supply before loosening any hose; place towels below the connection and never work on a live wet appliance.
What the symptom may indicate
Checks in the right order
- Turn off power and inspect the hose
Unplug the washer, move it only as far as the connected hoses allow and straighten any visible kink. Replace a split, crushed or swollen hose rather than testing it under pressure.
- Confirm the tap and supply
Open the supply tap fully. Samsung specifies 0.5 to 8 bar and about four litres per minute; ask a plumber to assess low household flow instead of modifying the washer.
- Clean the inlet mesh filters
Close the water tap, disconnect the inlet hose, gently remove the mesh filters and rinse away debris. Refit them, reconnect both ends and check that every joint is watertight before reopening the tap.
- Check the detergent drawer and retest
Remove visible detergent obstruction using the model instructions, refit the drawer, reconnect power and start a short programme. Persistent 4C or 4E requires Samsung support.
Stop and get qualified help when
- Stop for a leaking valve, damaged hose thread, inaccessible built-in connection, water near electrical parts or a code that returns after the official checks; arrange qualified service.
Next step
Repair, replace a part, or arrange a diagnosis?
Use the checks and stop conditions above to choose the least costly safe next step. A symptom alone never proves that the appliance has failed.
Resolve it without buying anything
Complete the 4 safe checks in order. If normal operation returns and no warning sign remains, no replacement is indicated.
Replace only the confirmed part
If the checks isolate a worn or blocked component, match its complete reference to the exact appliance model before ordering.
This guide does not identify a replacement part. Do not order a generic component from the symptom alone.
Arrange a diagnosis before replacing the appliance
Stop at any warning sign listed above. A qualified diagnosis should confirm that repair is unsafe, unavailable or uneconomical before an appliance replacement is considered.
